{"id":122,"date":"2021-04-27T15:10:56","date_gmt":"2021-04-27T14:10:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/2002studiosmedia.com\/blog\/?p=122"},"modified":"2022-11-18T15:23:48","modified_gmt":"2022-11-18T15:23:48","slug":"have-you-ever-heard-the-wilhelm-scream","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/2002studiosmedia.com\/blog\/index.php\/2021\/04\/27\/have-you-ever-heard-the-wilhelm-scream\/","title":{"rendered":"Have you ever heard the Wilhelm scream?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">You probably have, but without even knowing\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You may never have noticed whilst watching a movie, but the `Wilhelm scream\u2019 might be the most famous: \u201cAaaaaaoouuuuh!\u201d in the world.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Seventy years ago, this sound was recorded for the making of the movie `<em>Distant Drums\u2019<\/em>&nbsp;(1951) and was probably voiced by the actor \/ Voice Over artist Sheb Wooly in a scene where his character is bitten and dragged underwater by an alligator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"562\" height=\"343\" src=\"https:\/\/2002studiosmedia.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Sans-titre.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-123\" srcset=\"https:\/\/2002studiosmedia.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Sans-titre.png 562w, https:\/\/2002studiosmedia.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Sans-titre-300x183.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 562px) 100vw, 562px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This famous sound effect was then entitled: \u201cMan getting bit by an alligator, and he screamed\u201d and eventually became the iconic: `Wilhelm scream\u2019 after it was added in the post-production in the movie `<em>The Charge at Feather River\u2019<\/em>&nbsp;(1953) when Private Wilhelm was shot by an arrow.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"945\" height=\"447\" src=\"https:\/\/2002studiosmedia.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Sans-titre-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-124\" srcset=\"https:\/\/2002studiosmedia.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Sans-titre-1.png 945w, https:\/\/2002studiosmedia.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Sans-titre-1-300x142.png 300w, https:\/\/2002studiosmedia.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Sans-titre-1-768x363.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 945px) 100vw, 945px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The sound finally broke out into popular culture thanks to Ben Burt who incorporated the scream in the media franchise&nbsp;<em>Star Wars.<\/em><br><br>Since then, `Wilhelm\u2019s scream\u2019 has been used in more than 3,000 films of all cultures, locales and languages, such as:<em>&nbsp;Indiana Jones, Toy Story, Cars, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Hercules, Game of Thrones<\/em>&nbsp;and many others &#8211; as well as in many videos games.
